New Zealand Online Gambling Laws 2026

As of now, nothing has changed regarding playing at casinos in New Zealand with real money. However, Expressions of Interest for online licenses opened on July 17th (and close on August 14th), and up to 15 licenses will be awarded through an auction process.
The first licensed NZ online casino sites are expected to launch as the regime phases in, and from the 1st of December 2026, unlicensed offshore operators must exit the NZ market.
How this will work in practice remains to be seen. SuperPartners (the network responsible for brands like Jackpot City and Spin Casino) recently exited the New Zealand market for good, and it’s likely we’ll see many other top NZ online casinos follow in the months to come.
