Aristocrat has brought its Lightning Link series into real-money online casino gaming with Lightning Link High Stakes, a digital version of one of their most popular franchises ever, designed around the now-iconic Hold & Spin mechanic.
The new title made its online debut online on the 23rd of July 2026 through Aristocrat Interactive, the group’s iGaming division, and it’s now been more than a decade since Lightning Link first appeared in land-based casinos. It’s since gone onto become one of Aristocrat’s most recognisable slot titles, and the newly-released digital version of the game is designed to try and reproduce a familiar experience on mobile and desktop, without reinventing too much.
The game uses a Las Vegas lounge theme with symbols including roulette wheels, poker chips, luxury cars, and a variety of other traditional casino icons. You can land cash prizes directly on the reels, and the game’s main attraction remains the hold and spin feature, during which special cash symbols lock in place with each new symbol landing, resetting the respin counter back to 3.
Interestingly, the online version of the game also introduces a big reel feature during the free spins. When triggered, the central reels combine to form one oversized symbol, which means the middle three reels can land one instance of any of the game’s paying symbols.
Lightning Link High Stakes also includes shared progressive jackpots, with the Grand being the most valuable. It’s currently unclear exactly how this progressive network will function; whether the jackpot will be pooled worldwide, like we’ve seen from other providers like Microgaming and Pragmatic Play, or whether, due to some of the difficult regulatory environments Aristocrat is known to operate in, like the US and Canada, they will be state/province-dependent
All of that, along with RTP, volatility ratings, and min/max stakes, is yet to be revealed. What can be said with certainty is that this is a game that will appeal to old-school slots players and especially those that are used to playing on the floor of Vegas casinos!
