PokerStars doesn't work in NZ?
Quote from jackpot_jane on June 2, 2025, 6:13 amHey, anyone else having problems with getting into Stars tonight? Been getting the usual “service unavailable in region” pop-up box for ages now. I redownloaded the thing three times now, turned off VPN, still nothing for me. Also tried to put some money in with the ANZ Visa, which instantly declined for some reason. Have they finally banned us kiwis or is something wrong with the account?

Quote from luckyduck on June 3, 2025, 3:44 amYeah nah it's definitely up, I'm literally playing four-tabling PLO out of Wellington rn. Think you're probably just having trouble with the old .eu client. They've just forced an update on the .com client, you'll want to grab the right download. And also, banks are being a bit of a hassle with credit cards at the moment. Westpac and ANZ now automatically block any gambling transactions. You can try a debit card or just load up Skrill, it'll work no worries.

Quote from sportykiwi on June 4, 2025, 4:12 amHonestly, if Stars is acting up, just switch to GG. The field is way softer anyway, and they actually recognize NZ properly, which is nice since they display the flag and everything. Rake is a bit higher, but the players are worse, and it ends up working out better for me anyway lol.

Quote from randomguy on June 5, 2025, 3:06 amACR and CoinPoker are good options too, if you’re looking at alternatives. Especially if you’re having issues where your bank keeps declining your cards, ACR has crypto cashout same day, so that’s a bonus. Not as many players, of course, as you would expect at Stars, but it’s busy enough in the evenings.

Quote from kai_love on June 6, 2025, 7:53 amJust to give you a heads up, it’s perfectly legal to gamble here as they are offshore. The government are also planning on bringing in a new system of licensing in 2026, so that could change in the future, but as of right now, Stars etc are safe, just be prepared to have your KYC done when they do eventually release new laws.
