How does self-exclusion work?

Self exclusion is one of the best tools for battling problematic gambling tendencies. When a player feels like he's had enough, he can self-exclude and thereby ban himeself from the casino.

It's usually for a set period. Some casinos don't even let you ban yourself indefinitely, but for that you can request an account closure.

Self-exclusion is something that's more or less designed to be a cooling period, where you don't play for a month, or three months, or a year. But inherently, the self-exclusion period will expire and you'll be allowed to login again and place bets again.

In the UK, there's a GamStop scheme in which casinos are bundled together, so when you exclude youreself from one casino, you've excluded yourself in all of them. We don't have that in New Zealand. So, here, if you exclude yourself from one casino, that's it. You need to exclude yourself from every casino separately.
