Best sports to bet on

Quote from Mark Dash on July 5, 2024, 10:24 amFootball is the most popular sport in the world, and it's taking the majority of sportsbook bets. We know that rugby is the most popular one in New Zealand, and some would say, the only one.
Well football is certainly one of the worst sports to bet on. It's because of the rules. Whereas in basketball you know both teams will score in bunches, it's just a matter of which team will score more, in football, a score is a dramatic event that may or may not happen at all.
The best sport to bet on wouldn't have such a high variance, and would be one that is fairly predictable, as in, favourites win most of the time. I looked at some facts and found evidence that volleyball and boxing score high, and so do other martial arts and basketball but not NBA. Maybe athletics too. The best one wins the 100m dash doesn't he? Tennis and aussie rules football are near the top of the list. Also look into American college football and darts. Rugby union, handball, cricket, snooker and rugby league are fine.
Football and ice hockey are the worst.
In all of these cases you'll need a lot of knowledge about the sport, the competition and the teams and athletes you're betting on, but in some cases (football!) the very nature of the sport will hurt you. Just imagine. One wrong referee decision and your football team is down one goal from the penalty kick and down one player because of red card.
