Golden Reels Casino

No matter what I did, I couldn’t log into the mobile app, so I had to log into the website version of the casino. This sucks, I didn’t get the 50 free spins.

How much I deposited and what bonus I got

I deposited using Skrill, 20 NZD, got a nice 40 NZD bonus and played through it with relative ease.

My Playing Experience

Since the Pragmatic Play titles are set to a high payout here, I did the usual round across all the Big Bass titles and had heaps of fun. I didn’t even play any other games, I just played the heck out of Big Bass and now I have my favourites in this series.

Welcome Bonuses

This is the first casino I’ve seen that is giving a progressively worse bonus as your deposit rises. Here are the bonus amounts on your first deposit:

• 200% BONUS for deposits from 20 USD/AUD/NZD/EUR to 49 USD/AUD/NZD/EUR (max. bonus 49 USD/AUD/NZD/EUR, wager x25)
• 150% BONUS for deposits from 50 USD/AUD/NZD/EUR to 499 USD/AUD/NZD/EUR (max. bonus 300 USD/AUD/NZD/EUR, wager x25)
• 50% BONUS for deposits over 500 USD/AUD/NZD/EUR (max. bonus 2000 USD/AUD/NZD/EUR, wager x30)

Then it gets worse on second, third, fourth and fifth deposit, as the fifth deposit is rewarded with 25% only, for deposits over 50 NZD, with a maximum bonus of 750 NZD. However, the wagering requirement for this bonus is only 20x!

And this is the key thing with the Golden Reels bonus. The wagering requirements are crazy at 25x and 20x, I haven’t seen playthrough this low since… forever. You’ll have no problem clearing these.

I haven’t been able to find some key bonus terms and conditions such as the maximum allowed bet size.

Edward’s Verdict on Golden Reels Bonuses

Get them while they last. Start with a small 40 NZD bonus on a 20 NZD deposit, play for 60 NZD with a mere 500 NZD playthrough requirement. Then, claim anything between 40 NZD and 300 NZD in bonus money with the 2nd deposit bonus, again with a 25x playthrough requirement.

Pounce on third, fourth and fifth deposit bonuses with the maximum deposit as you can get 400, 500 and 750 NZD here respectively for a total of 1,650 NZD, with only a 20x playthrough.

If you’re in any way familiar with the process of meeting the bonus playthrough requirements, you’ll have no problem making heaps of money here at Golden Reels.

Games you can play at Golden Reels Casino

Golden Reels is a pure casino with little else on the side. That means you can play pokies, casino table games and live dealer games. There’s a sportsbook on the side but this is not the focus of the site, and it feels like it doesn’t belong.

Pokies at Golden Reels Casino

I always like it when a casino bothers to list pokies by category: Top, New, Megaways, Bonus-buy, Hold and win, Jackpots. That’s good enough for me and it’s easy to navigate to the pokie I want to play.

I particularly enjoy being able to select by provider. These are available at Golden Reels:

Amatic, Avarar UX, Belatra, Bet2Tech, Betsoft, BGaming, Big Time Gaming, Booongo, Chilli Games, CT Interactive, Fantasma, Gamebeat, Gamzix, Hacksaw Gaming, KA Gaming, Mancala Gaming, Mannaplay, Mascot Gaming, NetEnt, NetGame, Onlyplay, Phoenix7, Platipus, Play’n GO, Playson, Pragmatic Play, Red Tiger, Reel Kingdom, Relax Gaming, Slotmill, SmartSoft Gaming, Tom Horn, TopSpin, Wazdan, Winfast, Yggdrasil, Zillion.

However, I’ve noticed that not all providers are listed. Golden Reels has Relax Gaming and Hacksaw Gaming pokies, but you can’t select by those providers.

Pokie RTP Test

Golden Reels casino did exceptionally well in my pokie RTP test. The Pragmatic Play pokies – known to be configurable by the casino – are all set to their highest setting so you can enjoy the most popular games right now without being shaved of your profits.

Sugar Rush 1000 is set to 96.53%, this is good enough, as while the theoretical maximum is 97.50% for this game, no one sets it at that.

Always check the RTP of the game you’re playing in the game’s Info screen, and compare to what a quick Google search says is the maximum RTP for the game.

Game	Developer	RTP at Golden Reels	Maximum RTP setting
Big Bass Bonanza	Pragmatic Play	96.71%	96.71%
Magic of the Ring	Wazdan	96.47%	96.47%
Gates of Olympus	Pragmatic Play	96.50%	96.50%
Sugar Rush 1000	Pragmatic Play	96.53%	97.50%
Bonanza Billion	BGaming	98.53%	98.53%
Jawsome Pirates	Hacksaw Gaming	94.30%	96.38%

Live Dealer Games

The live dealer section was a bit of a disappointment as it seemed to only have Evolution games, but I later found Pragmatic Play, Winfinity, Live88, Asia Gaming, Atmosfera, Ezugi and Vivo Gaming. It’s still not a stellar offer but it’s good enough for pokie players who just want to take a break from the spinning reels.

Payment Methods

Deposit

Visa, Mastercard, AstroPay, Skrill, Jeton, MiFinity, Payz, 7 cryptocurrencies

Withdrawal

Bank transfer, Visa, Mastercard, AstroPay, Skrill, Jeton, MiFinity, Payz, 7 cryptocurrencies

The usual payment methods for a crypto casino apply here. You’ll be able to deposit in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, USDT, USDC, Dogecoin and Toncoin, which seems to be a priority for Golden Reels, and everyone else can choose between e-wallets and card payments. The e-wallets available are Skrill, AstroPay, Jeton, Payz and MiFinity. Surprisingly, no Neteller nor Paysafecard.

Minimum deposit is NZ$10 but NZ$20 if you want the bonuses, while the minimum withdrawal is $20. Most withdrawals are instant.

As far as I’m concerned there aren’t no deposit bonus at Golden Reels.

Does Golden Reels use NZD natively?

No. They use EUR and they display NZD to you on the screen. You’re getting a bad deal actually, as the welcome bonus is up to 2000 EUR but also 2000 NZD. I’d advise playing in EUR if you can do that, because you’ll get the largest bonuses.

Still, regardless of the currency you use, there’s simply no denying – in my opinnion – that Golden Reels is one of the safest online casinos in New Zealand!

Customer Support

The customer support is not only good but superb. People memorize the names of customer support agents here, and so did I, Beth was super helfpul with my made-up query. There are no buts here, just quality customer support that will take care of you and make sure your problem is resolved.

Golden Reels Casino Company Information and Licencing

The Golden Reels website is operated by Vivardo N.V., a company incorporated and registered under the laws of Curacao, with registration No. 149436 and its registered office at Groot Kwartierweg 10, Willemstad, Curaçao, licensed under gaming license No. 8048/JAZ, by Antillephone N.V., on the basis of a license issued by the Government of the Netherlands Antilles. Certain payments may be processed by Vivardo Operations Ltd, a company incorporated in Cyprus with registration number ΗΕ 397649 and registered address at 25 Martiou, 27, D.Michael Tower, Flat/Office 105A, Egcomi, 2408, Nicosia, Cyprus.

This is a standard Curacao licence for crypto-accepting casinos, and Golden Reels obviously hasn’t yet switched to the new, government-backed Curacao Gaming Control Board licence.

Using a VPN to test access from other countries, I’ve found that in some European markets the licence that the customer sees is from Kyrgyz Republic. That’s a first.

How other players rate Golden Reels Casino

There aren’t too many reviews of Golden Reels, but those I’ve found, especially by New Zealand and Australian players, are positive. As a matter of fact, I couldn’t find a negative one. There’s no one complaining about delayed payments, which means they’re always on time.

I’d say this is the cleanest review profile I’ve seen in a while.

Is Golden Reels Casino legit or a scam?

All things considered, I’d say Golden Reels casino is legit. I haven’t found any evidence of wrongdoing, all I found were players reporting how happy they were to play here. You can play here safely.
