Sugar Rush Slot Review + Free Demo
Sugar Rush is a Pragmatic Play release that quickly became one of the studio’s most successful releases in history – and it was first released back in 2022. It’s available at pretty much every NZ-based online casino, and in this review, I’m going to show you exactly how it plays, how the bonuses and features work, and everything in between.
First Impressions
Sugar Rush is designed around a 7×7 grid, and there are no paylines involved as it uses a cluster pays mechanic. Cluster of 5+ matching symbols anywhere in view form a win, and the position on the reels involving that symbol then has a multiplier attached to it – starting at 2x, and doubling each time it wins again. The maximum multiplier per spot is 128x. Now, in the base game, the multipliers reset between spins.

You can bet between NZ$0.20 and NZ$100 per spin, and the game offers an above-average RTP of 96.50% – although some operators choose to run lower-RTP versions, too, so this is something to check and be aware of.
Free Spins Bonus
Landing three or more Scatter symbols anywhere in view triggers Sugar Rush’s Free Spins bonus, and this is where the game really begins to open up. During the bonus round, the marked multiplier positions do not reset between spins – so it’s one of those games where the latter spins offer the highest win potential. You can also re-trigger the feature by landing an additional 3+ Scatter symbols anywhere in view during the feature.
Most casinos allow you to use a Bonus Buy mechanic, too. This allows you to buy direct entry into the Free Spins bonus for a cost of 100x. Some versions also contain a Super Bonus which costs 500x, and begins the feature with all reel positions holding a 2x multiplier.

Our Verdict of Sugar Rush
For us, Sugar Rush is probably one of Pragmatic Play’s best releases, and we feel that the cult-like status it’s managed to build over the past few years is definiately deserved. Yes, the base game can be brutal at times, but thanks to the multipliers, it’s possible to win big even inside the base.
For a shot at that maximum win potential of 5,000x, however, you’ll usually need to land the Free Spins bonus – and inside, things can get pretty crazy, quite quickly. The Bonus Buy option allows you to buy into the feature for just 100x, too, which is a pretty reasonable price, if you’re so inclined!
